Today we had an editing workshop with Matt where we learnt how to use the software Adobe Premiere Pro.
This is this software that we will be using to edit our opening title sequences.
When editing you should save your work constantly in case your computer crashes or the software stops working.
When the raw footage is put onto the computer they are called rushes.
Once you have watched all of the raw footage, make a folder with the folder icon and call it log bin. In editing folders are called bins as this is what used to be used when films were shot in physical film strips
You then copy and paste the rushes which you want to use into the log bin.
The cutting tool is for shortening videosAnd cutting out the beginning of the end which you don't want to keep, the tool for this is the Razor tool. Or you can press command k.
In and out shots are to mark where you want the shot to start and end. You use the scrubbing tool until the line is where you want to to start the shot and then press command I. Then wherever you want the shot to end you would press Command O.
The + and - keys on the timeline allow you to zoom in and out of the timeline, which is where you drag the shots you want to use.
In premiere Pro there are four different panels, the timeline, the project panel, source panel and programme panel.
The timeline is where the project that you are working on is and where you can see the audio and video channels that you have chosen to be in your film.
The project panel is where the rushes and the raw footage is stored in bins.
The programme and source panels show the video, one is the video selected in the timeline and one is the video selected in the programme panel. This is so you can compare where the shot is going in and out of and easily get the right frame.
